Emission Designator Tool

The Emission Designator Tool is located on the Mode Characteristics page and the Links/Modes sub-section within the NTIA General Information page. This tool allows users to select an emission designator that fits the transmitter and antenna associated with a station.

Mode Characteristics

To access the Emission Designator Tool on the Mode Characteristics page:

  1. Click on the Build icon and the following screen will appear.
  2. Emission Designator Popup
  3. An emission designator is a complex field created from the following subfields. Provide subfields values, and the emission designator will be generated automatically. If 'X' is selected for any field, explain why in the Explanation field(s).
  4. Click on the Okay Button and the information will populate the Emission Designator field, as shown below.

Links/Modes

To access the Emission Designator Tool on the Links/Selected Modes page:

  1. Click on the pencil icon in the Emission/Power box. The following screen will appear.
  2. Emission Designator Popup
  3. The popup will allow users to select transmitter and power level combinations that are supported by NTIA policy.
  4. Select the transmitter from the dropdown, and the system will populate the screen below with power level, power type and Emission Designators that match with the frequency bands selected for this station.
  5. Emission Designator with selected transmitter
  6. Then check the box next to the appropriate emissions designator. Designators that do not fit within the allocated frequency range for this system will be greyed out and inaccessible.
  7. Click on the Okay Button and the information will populate the Emission/Power field in the table, as shown below.

Note that if equipment is removed from a station, the links associated with that equipment will also be removed. Users should therefore add equipment to stations before adding frequencies or emissions designators on the Links/Modes page.
